Cats

There are lots of cats on Thassos. Although homeless, many are fed by the locals during the winter months. This kitten, who seems to be doing a bit of subtle advertising, will be fed in a shed on the hillside, by the villagers of Argios Georgios,
But wherever there's food, the cats will be there in a passive, but pleading way!

I'm not too sure that we shall see this strange little kitten again. With huge ears and staring eyes, it sat watching hopefully as we ate our luinch at Alice's beachside taverna in Aliki.

Serendipity

Like many visitors to Thassos, we got our first glimpse of the island from the aeroplane, as it approached Kavala airport. The island's appearance was dulled by a summer haze and it looked rather dark and mysterious. Later, standing on the deck of the ferry, the view cleared as we watched Thassos Town and the surrounding hills come closer. We didn't realise then, that this was to be the first of many enjoyable visits and that we would eventually become the owners of a new apartment on the edge of Thassos Town.

It is on the sea front, with glorious views from the front balcony and is now available to rent throughout the year.

Serendiptiy
Your Holiday Home.

The living room/kitchen area is spacious, with a door out to the front balcony, which overlooks the sea. There is ample roon in the living area for the sofa bed, large dining table, 2 easy chairs and coffee table

The kitchen is well equipped. There is a large fridge/freezer in the recess to the left of the washing machine and since this photo was taken, a small cupboard and extra working surface has been fitted on the wall to the right of the cooker.

Everything that you would need to cook a three course meal is supplied, and the nearest supermarket is just a short walk away. Or you might prefer to visit the nearest taverna, which is within shouting distance
The local bakery is just up the road, so fresh Greek bread for breakfast is a delight.

The front bedroom has a double bed and views over the sea.

There is plenty of room in the back bedroom to put the twin beds together to make a double bed and room for a cot, which we can be provided on request Both bedrooms have bedside tables and storage space.
The view from this room's balcony, is magnificent.

There is plenty to do and see on the island, to suit all tastes. The energetic explorers can walk in the hills and discover the mountain villages. Exhausted tourists, in need of relaxing and restful days, won't have far to go, to find peace and quiet.

If you like walking, there are many tracks that you can follow along the coast or up in the hills.

You could enjoy a bit of exercise and lovely views followed by a thirst quenching drink or two in the shade, overlooking the harbour.
When you visit the mountain village of Kazavati, you can climb up the hills above the village, enjoy the distant sound of goat bells and then wander back and have relaxing meal in the village square, under the shade of the ancient plane trees.

Don't forget to bring your camera. The views from the balcony can be amazing!

When it's time to leave, you will be sad to go.
